Killeen slips by Alamo Heights as they capitalize on key turnovers in Division 1 4-A  playoff win

Just as the stats would indicate, Killeen (8-4) and Alamo Heights found themselves in a close game where their numbers were even closer. But the one thing that was not so close was the number of turnovers. Alamo Heights (8-4) turned the ball over fours times to Killeen's one, and as a result, found themselves dropping a 19-16 decision to the Roos.

Each team matched the others 115 yard of rushing while Killeen passed for 145 yards to Alamo Heights 147.

Killeen was able to stake themselves to a 19-0 third quarter lead after intercepting Alamo Heights quarterback Drew Allen for the third time in the game.

Allen answered back when he hit Justin Rosenthal for a five-yard touchdown pass later in the third quarter to get Alamo Heights on the board. Rosenthal later raced 19-yards early in the fourth quarter to cut the Roos lead to 19-16.

Killeen was forced to punt late in the fourth quarter but was able to extend their drive after Alamo Heights jumped offsides on the punt attempt. After killing more time on the clock, Killeen would once again have to punt the ball away.

Alamo Heights had just enough time to get a couple of plays off and made an attempt to pull out the win with a Hail Mary as time expired but was not able to convert leaving Killeen the winner by a score of 19-16.

Killeen will now move on the play Gregory-Portland next weekend in the regional semifinal.
