The 2009 U.S. Army All-American bowl ended in a 30-17 win for the East as Bryce Brown totaled 101 receiving yards, 60 of those coming on a third-quarter touchdown run. Brown added another touchdown run midway through the fourth-quarter to push the East lead to 30-10.
Over 32,000 fans filled the Alamodome, included in the crowd were many of our fine armed forces service members. The players on each squad, the East and the West, spent time during the week with some of the soldiers as they enjoyed the various events held during the week leading up to the game.
The East took an early lead towards the end of the first quarter when Willie Downs took an interception back 49-yards for a touchdown resulting in a 7-0 lead over the West.
It was 14-3 at the half before the West closed the gap to 14-10 early in the third-quarter when Tyrik Rollison connected with Pat Patterson on a 28-yard touchdown pass. The East then went on to win with an outstanding defensive effort as they held the West to the single late fourth-quarter touchdown while the offense added 16 second-half points for the 30-17 win.
